Africa

I don't follow trends, unless I just happen to like them. Regardless of how old a line is, if I like the clothes, who cares! I have been meaning to really take a look at Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. collection from last year...the one where she used West African prints. I loved it, though I understand it wasn't too popular in the industry. But really, who cares. If I could get my hand on one of those pieces, it wouldn't mind!

I think African prints (from all corners) are beautiful for so many things. Lately I have been using some West African prints myself (soon to be revealed), and they are just so bright and happy! Here's some more cool stuff I found...

Inspiration India

You don't have to be Indian to add some Indian touches to your wedding or even wear an Indian dress! I actually went to Little India to look for dresses, but unfortunately, they were out of my price range or not the color I looked for. Though I wanted my wedding to be nontraditional,  I chose to wear some shade of white just to make the groom happy. He was a good sport. He knew he was dealing with a little rebel who if loosened, would marry on a tight rope wearing a tutu!  I decided that I would honor him, nonetheless, I'd go wild in other areas!

One of my inspirations was India. I love Indian jewelry, especially the way Indian brides deck themselves out with all those amazing jewels and colors. Since my dress ended up being more on the vintage side of things, I decided to dress our surroundings with Indian and Moroccan textiles, decorations and jewel-toned colors since they go so well together. I used Indian saris lanterns, and cushions to decorate throughout the backyard and home.

Indian textiles can really add an elegant touch to the surroundings since they are bright and highly detailed, but also will make your guests feel like they're on a voyage. Here are some photos to inspire you...

A Frida morning.

Frida Kahlo is back... and this time with matadors and cowboys! Moschino has resurrected her wearing Western gear (even looks a little Eastern Euro), wearing black, white, and tons of yellow with a few touches of turquoise. nice...
